3rd Wedding Anniversary at Duke Mansion

My hubby, and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary on July 31st.

Our first date, almost 6 years ago, was 10 days after I graduated from college at a Labor Day picnic on the Columbia River, in Washington.

To celebrate, we stayed at The Duke Mansion in the affluent Myers Park Neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina.

We stayed in the Harris Suite, which had a Southern porch.

Anniversary flowers with three roses symbolizing three years.

That evening, we had dinner reservations at the Ritz-Carlton uptown. So, I had a bubble bath and relaxed before leaving for the evening.

It just so happened that it was the last day of Restaurant Week, so we both chose a prix fixe three course dinner.

This was my English pea risotto, it was especially light and delicious.

We got back to The Duke Mansion at dusk, and what a beautiful sunset we had that evening.

The next morning we had breakfast in the dining room. A couple from Columbia, South Carolina joined us at our table, and said they'd seen an article in a magazine and decided to come and stay.

After breakfast, we strolled through the gardens.

Don't think I didn't calculate how much I'd need per month to move in. Ha ha!

The delightful Doris Duke. We also visited her home in Newport, Rhode Island earlier this year, we're no longer strangers, but rather acquaintances.

Afterwards, we sat in the living space and library to learn more about the history of The Duke Mansion. We checked out and got back home before noon, to enjoy the day together.

3 years, and counting,
