Christmas Home Tour

Good morning my dears,

Today I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at our Christmas décor. This is our second Christmas at the farmhouse out in the country, so it was fun getting to find a few new Christmassy items to decorate with.

One of my favorite pieces is this mirror, as it reminds me of a church arch, and reflects all the light from the windows on the opposite wall. During Christmastime it also reflects all the twinkling lights from the tree.

Our tree is 12 foot tall, so my hubby usually decorates the top of the tree on a step stool, since I'm only 5'3" and can't reach. This year I added some strawberry fruit ornaments from my childhood, as well as some other sentimental ornaments. The teddy bear is a popular German brand, can't remember the name, but was my dad's childhood bear from the 1950's.

Last year my hubby gifted me some Better Homes & Garden plates. This year I decided to take the scene out of the plates, for a festive and whimsical breakfast room tablescape. Our breakfast room gets a lot of natural light, so sometimes depending on the time of day, the faux snow will sparkle. It definitely puts me is a festive mood, considering we rarely get any real snow in our small town.

I also filmed a few glimpses of our library mantle which houses our nativity and a few glimpses of the décor in our kitchen. Grab yourselves a cup of hot cocoa and have a peek.

Big Announcement

Good morning my dears,

I've been a little quiet on my blog lately... for good reason, as I spent the majority of my late summer undergoing a successful second round of IVF. I decided to focus all my time and attention on my RE appointments and kept a diary, of sorts, on my IG stories. At the time of writing this, I'm 14 weeks, 2 day pregnant with a miracle baby boy. As you can imagine, we both feel extremely grateful and blessed. Big thank you to anyone who kept us in their thoughts and prayers, it meant/means a lot to us.

Cory's 38th Birthday in Richmond, VA & Colonial Williamsburg, VA

Good afternoon my dears,

We recently celebrated Cory's 38th birthday in Richmond, Virginia and Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. While there we stayed at Virginia Crossings, the same hotel we stayed at during our 2016 trip to visit with my college friend, Rachel, whose husband was training for the National Guard.

Afternoon Tea at The Jefferson Hotel

Richmond as a city is a little bit tired compared to other southern cities such as Charlotte, Raleigh, or Charleston. However, one of their historic gems is The Jefferson Hotel, which dates back to 1895. We had made reservations for an afternoon tea, and it didn't disappoint.

Cory standing with the statue of Thomas Jefferson.

Edgar Allen Poe Museum

Edgar Allen Poe was a colorful character. He led an interesting life marred by many losses and mental health disorders. We toured the Poe Museum, which is housed in one of the oldest houses in Richmond, Virginia.

Colonial Williamsburg

On Cory's birthday we made the short drive to Colonial Williamsburg. We took a tour of the Governor's Palace and afterwards spent several hours trying to find something - anything to eat. A lot of the restaurants are closed on Mondays, or until 5pm, so we kept being told there'd be over an hour wait. We eventually found a restaurant, but they ended up not having the ingredients needed for my fish lunch, so we ended up waiting over an hour anyways. Long story short, I'd highly recommend bringing a picnic and eating on the lawn overlooking Governor's Palace.

My favorite part of the day was when the light started dappling.

Wilton House

On our way home from Richmond, Virginia we had a delightful tour of the Wilton House, built circa 1753, by William Randolph III. It was here they hosted social and political figures, including George Washington.

Sunroom Studio Makeover

Good afternoon my dears,

A few weekends ago we decided to paint our sunroom studio/day-room. We painted it in Sherwin Williams Sea Salt, which is a blue/green color that feels very soothing, peaceful, and relaxing. This is the room I spend most of my time in; catching up online, organizing family photos, family videos, and albums.

- Room Tour -

On this wall you can see my hutch, from the Haverty's Newport collection. Above, is a picture collage that hung in my childhood home. It has pictures from my parents August 1985 wedding, and my baby picture in the middle.

On this wall you can see my desk and the French doors surrounded by a collection of family photos.

On this wall are our new recliners. Would you believe me if I told you they were from the Better Homes and Gardens collection from Walmart?

Some simple fall decorations.

Cory's 5th Workiversary

Good afternoon my dears,

We recently celebrated Cory's fifth workiversary, as a UX/UI designer for the wholesome television network, insp. Also, this year is Cory's twentieth year in the graphic design field. Or as he likes to say, "in design since '99". To celebrate we went on a day trip to Davidson, NC and for a scumptious dinner at Kindred.

The hip restaurant, Kindred.

The cute main street of Davidson, NC. There's a lot of family-owned restaurants, book stores, gift stores, banks, a library, and of course the Davidson College campus. Its probably one of the most well-kept college campuses we've ever seen.

The Davidson College Presbyterian Church was founded in 1837. Its where 28th US president, Woodrow Wilson worshiped while attending Davidson College. As we were walking around the downtown the bells went off several times. Such an idyllic setting to go to college.

6th Wedding Anniversary at Ayr Mount and Fearrington Village

Good afternoon my dears,

Its been awhile since I've had a chance to update my blog. The reason being that since July 1st, we've been going through a second round of IVF. I've tried to keep an IVF journal of sorts on my Instagram stories. Here's a link if you're interested in our journey.

All this to say, I'm finally getting caught up on downloading memories and organizing pictures for my blog and vlog. Here are some memories from our 6th wedding anniversary.

- Cory and Kiki -
Celebrating six years of marriage, and almost nine years since our first date.

To celebrate we decided to take a day trip to Ayr Mount and Fearrington Village.

- Ayr Mount -
Ayr Mount is a Federal style plantation house in the Hillsborough, NC neighborhood. Built circa 1815, by scotsman, William Kirkland for himself, his wife, Margaret, and their children. The Kirkland family lived at Ayr Mount for four generations, until 1985 when the last Mrs. Kirkland passed away. It is now cared for by the by Classical American Homes Preservation Trust.

- Fearrington Village -
Fearrington Village was built circa 1974, when the Fitches purchased the two-centuries old dairy farm from Jesse Fearrington. Jesse inherited the farm that was started by his great-great grandfather, William Cole who staked out a 640-acre claim in 1786. They named the community Fearrington in his honor. The Fitches wanted to create a "coming together place" what they didn't anticipate is that it would be a haven for the birds and butterflies.

Where we had our anniversary dinner.

If you ever want to feel like you're in a Hallmark movie, then you need to visit Fearrington Village.
