Sunset Walk On The Beach Part One

We had a lovely evening walking on Topsail Beach, in coastal North Carolina. I took a lot of pictures, so I'll post more of the sunset tomorrow.

5 Reasons I Love Pinterest

I went onto my Pinterest account today, as I do everyday and I was surprised to see that I have pinned so many pins.

...drum roll please...

4,500 pins y'all.

I really enjoy going onto Pinterest, here are some of my reasons:

1.
I like that I can choose who to follow.
With other social media sites, you have an unwritten rule that you only friend people you know, but on Pinterest you can follow anybody, which allows you to find fellow pinners who have a similar interest, taste, or style as I do.

2.
Don't enjoy this or that.
My feed is an awesome dream world free from things I don't like seeing. I really don't have an interest in tattoos, or street style fashion, or different color hair. So I simply un-follow those boards,  on Pinterest nobody takes offense...I also take no offense if someone wants to un-follow my tea party board or vintage fashion. So we're all even.

3.
Creative answer.
I like seeing creativity, ideas, or using the search bar to find an answer to a question. Recently I was curious to find what plants prevent mosquito bites. One quick search and I found a list of flowers/herbs I can grow in my garden to detract mosquitoes.

4.
See who I am.
When I look at my boards, all 48 of them, I notice what my interests really are. My home board is so consistent with one particular style and my recipes are mostly ones I look at, don't always make, but in some dream world think I might try one day.

5.
It really is my dream world.
It's relaxing looking at flowers, inspirational reading quotes, and almost makes you feel organized for pinning all your favorite books in one place. With modern day media 24/7 giving us an influx of bad news, it's just too much. It can make you paranoid about the world we live in. Pinterest is an escape of all that, where you can pin your dream world, in a positive place with like minded pinners.

What I learned in December

Today, I'm looking back at December. Here's some things I learned in December...

1.
Sending and receiving cards is so much fun. Ours turned out a little brighter than I expected, but it resonated that we had a coastal Christmas.

2.
This was our first Christmas away from both sides of our family, so we sent large packages to my mom and sister in England, and my in-laws in the Pacific Northwest. My sister and I love wrapping, and adding embellishments, so it's always fun unwrapping. I learned that extra effort is appreciated.

3.
With all our Christmassy stuff in storage, we had to find ways to get into the spirit. We bought this little rosemary tree from Trader Joes, and decorated our table with Christmas crackers, and cards. We learned to make do, but I did miss having a bigger tree.

we also got a train set, that was a new addition this year.

4.
There's something about the foods you ate growing up that remind you of Christmas. Growing up in the heart of England, I am accustomed to Christmas cake, Christmas pudding, Yorkshire Puddings, and lot's of my families recipes.

Trader Joes had Pain au Chocolate, which they named Chocolate Croissant. They were delicious. Mmmm!

And Harris Teeter had Christmas puddings. They were nice, but not quite like how my Nana used to make them.

5.
Lastly, I learned to go with the flow. We're in the process of purchasing a home in the Queen City and maybe, just maybe next Christmas will be a big family get-together.

Hope you all had a happy December, and a Merry Christmas.
