Today we went to The Gulf Beach in Venice, Florida. We left as the sun was setting.

This past week or so I have been travelling a lot.

 

From Coker Creek Tennessee,

to Virginia Beach Virginia,

to Kennewick Washington,

to Port Charlotte Florida.

 

So lot's of airports.

And if you have a bunch of interconnecting flights, it's easy to forget you haven't eaten in hours...

I'm almost finished reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin.

 

 

Gretchen, spends a year making changes to her life to try attain more happiness. Her style is easy to read, and ideas and thoughts on many subjects are similar to my own.

My fiance and I experienced our first ever tropical storm in ::Florida::

 

Was I nervous with the 3am HGTV interruption BEEP on the TV?

 

Nope, not me (eeek!).

 

I definitely didn't freak out and ask my fiance to Google the storm path to see if we needed to evacuate.

Am loving that our home in Florida overlooks a canal.

Last but not least, I've been doing memorial arrangements for my dad who passed away on May 21st. Thats three grandparents, and one parent all passed within the last four years.

 

And going through the struggles my dad had with pancreatic cancer, I've learnt so much more about life.

 

That we need to live, experience and have joy in each and every day.

 

So these photos are a tribute to my dad.

Flying into Florida

While I was in Washington State for about ten days, taking care of my dad's arrangements my fiance Cory did the drive from Tennessee to Florida, by his lonesome for his next work assignment.

 

I flew in a few days afterwards, and have spent the past few days catching up on sleep, my messages, making the house we rented more 'homey', cooking and most importantly spending time with Cory, our dogs Soph and Oscar and cats Buster, Boo and Milly. I missed them all.

Bye, Bye Dad and Virginia Beach

It has been a whirlwind past few weeks.

 

 

It all started when my fiance and I were on our way to Virginia Beach, for a few days.

 

 

We arrived to the airport, and got an erroneous amount of phone calls.

 

 

My fiance, Cory answered. It was his brother, who had told him the news that my dad had passed.

 

 

He had been battling cancer for two-and-a-half years, and now was at rest.

 

 

I tried going to the ticket counters inquiring about tickets to Washington State and quickly decided I'd wait until the day after next.

 

 

So I could relax, and reflect before being thrust into taking care of all the arrangements.

 

 

Luckily, Virginia Beach was perfect for relaxing. We went to our B&B, Barclay Cottage, which was a comfortable home away from home and got ready for the beach.
 

 

We had a nice lunch. I had lobster macaroni and Cory had chicken wings at Rock Fish Grill.

That night we went for dinner at Terrapin's.



The following day we went to the beach after breakfast at the B&B, and then to Aldo's for dinner.



 

 

 

 

The following day, I left for Washington State after our breakfast at the B&B. We definitely want to come back to Virginia Beach again.
