Pray For Papa

I wanted to personally thank all of you who prayed for my husband's paternal grandma.

Today I thought I'd share my husband's maternal grandparent's family history:

Papa
Arthur Edwin Dillon
born 1924, in Oregon

married for sixty-one years on November 14th 1953 to

Grandee
Marlene Joann Jungers
born 1932, in North Dakota
died 2015, in Texas

They had four children. Laura "Lori" (Ron) Cynthia "Cindy" (Kerry) Michael (Melissa) Christopher (Jee)
nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

Grandee's Obituary

Marlene Joann “Grandee” Jungers Dillon, a long-time resident of Eugene, died peacefully in Arlington, TX the morning of Tuesday the 17th of June with her husband and three adult children by her side.

Born June 28th 1932 in Regent, North Dakota, Marlene Jungers moved to Eugene as a young child. She attended St. Mary Grammar School and St. Francis High School, graduating in 1950.

She worked at Consolidated Freight Lines in Eugene where she met her future husband Arthur Edwin Dillon. They were married November 14, 1953 in Josephine County, Oregon.

The Dillon's traveled often in their young married life; living in Eugene then moving to Saudi Arabia where Arthur worked for ARAMCO. Arthur and Marlene traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East. They returned home to Eugene in 1960 but moved again to a suburb of Los Angeles for most of the 1960s. They finally returned to Eugene in 1969 to raise their family of four. They have lived in the same home for over 46 years.

While the children were in school, Marlene worked as a bookkeeper for the Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic for over a decade and later worked for Women’s Health Care before her retirement.

Marlene enjoyed entertaining her large group of friends along with traveling and visiting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was survived by her husband Arthur, three of her children; Cindy Wright (Kerry), Arthur Michael Dillon (Melissa) and Dr. Christopher Dillon (Jee); nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by daughter Lori Jepson.

Visitation held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eugene on June 24, 2015 with a Mass of Christian Burial following. This was the same church she had attended since she was a small child.

Committal service at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eugene.

They have two daughters Lori "Bug" (Jesse) Angela "Angie"

married for thirty-eight years on November 26th 1977 to,

Cynthia "Cindy" Lee Dillon
born 1958, in Saudi Arabia (to American parents)


They have two sons Kasey (Kimberly) Cory (Kiki - that's me)
two grandchildren

They live in the Pacific Northwest

Michael Dillon married Iris Smith

They have two daughters Samantha (whose graduating from Liberty this year) and Alexis (who is on a years mission around the world)

Michael is marrying Melissa in 2016

They live in Texas.

Dr. Christopher Dillon married Veronica Ocampo

They have two sons Justin, Daniel and one daughter Mary

Christopher married Jee in 2011

They live in Texas

Papa is turning ninety-two this year, and has battled Alzheimer's for over ten years. He has moved to Texas to be closer to his sons. Please pray for the provision of his care, which is around the clock.

What a lovely family your Grandee and Papa created! I am a bit late in visiting due to it being college finals week for me but I am so very happy you joined Thought of Home on Thursday and shared this delightful gem.
