Christmas Home Tour

Good morning my dears,

Today I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at our Christmas décor. This is our second Christmas at the farmhouse out in the country, so it was fun getting to find a few new Christmassy items to decorate with.

One of my favorite pieces is this mirror, as it reminds me of a church arch, and reflects all the light from the windows on the opposite wall. During Christmastime it also reflects all the twinkling lights from the tree.

Our tree is 12 foot tall, so my hubby usually decorates the top of the tree on a step stool, since I'm only 5'3" and can't reach. This year I added some strawberry fruit ornaments from my childhood, as well as some other sentimental ornaments. The teddy bear is a popular German brand, can't remember the name, but was my dad's childhood bear from the 1950's.

Last year my hubby gifted me some Better Homes & Garden plates. This year I decided to take the scene out of the plates, for a festive and whimsical breakfast room tablescape. Our breakfast room gets a lot of natural light, so sometimes depending on the time of day, the faux snow will sparkle. It definitely puts me is a festive mood, considering we rarely get any real snow in our small town.

I also filmed a few glimpses of our library mantle which houses our nativity and a few glimpses of the décor in our kitchen. Grab yourselves a cup of hot cocoa and have a peek.

Christmas Home Tour

Good morning my dears,

Today I thought I'd give you a sneak peek at our Christmas décor. This is our first Christmas at the farmhouse out in the country, so it was fun getting to decorate with a blank canvas.

This is our breakfast room, which has French doors onto the patio and eight windows of uninterrupted views of our forest. The sideboard houses all my cookbooks and is decorated with an advent wreath. The evergreen symbolizes eternal life, and the candles lit each Sunday symbolize hope, faith, joy, and love.

Our cat, Millicent Marie, aka Milly was too cute not to snap a picture of.

Decorated our breakfast room with evergreen wreaths and a small town Christmas village in our apothecary jar. Our blue and white china is mix-matched, with Laura Ashley Petite Fleur bread plates and Johnson Brothers Devon Cottage dinner plates.

Decorated the great room with an angel tree as angels and angel wings are my all-time favorite Christmas decoration. I have wings representing all our loved ones who are no longer with us, but are in heaven, with heavenly father and heavenly mother. The stockings were handmade with care by my sister with Cath Kidston style fabrics and ribbons.

Our Christmas Home Tour video also includes our entryway, library, kitchen, mud room, coffee bar, and dining room.

From our home to yours, Merry Christmas!

3rd annual Thanksgiving at Biltmore

Good afternoon my dears.

Maybe its just me, but the weeks up to Christmas somehow seem faster. When I sit with my cup of coffee and a teeny piece of Cadbury's chocolate to upload our pictures and video footage, it makes me grateful that I can be anywhere (with internet connection) and recollect previous memories.

I think it is something you have to be intentional to do - to capture, and then preserve. Sometimes, I feel bad if I haven't put together a newsworthy post within 72 hours of the event, but then I see social media posts that make my heart skip a beat;

"I lost all the first 2 years of -'s baby pictures off of my phone."
&
"Another years gone by and we haven't been anywhere again."

My heart brakes for them. I hope they'll learn from this years mistakes and try to be more intentional for next year.

Our 3rd annual Thanksgiving at Biltmore.

One of our favorite places on the Biltmore Estate to eat - especially during the holidays - is the Deerpark Restaurant. The restaurant has a large food hall, which serves up traditional southern style food.

Afterwards, we went to see the Christmas decorations inside the Biltmore.

The decorations - blue and silver - were to showcase the needlepoint tapestries. My pictures don't do it justice. It was simply magical with Christmas music being played on the organ and watching little children walk into the room and exclaim "wow".

Later that evening we went to the Inn on Biltmore. Its a good place to people-watch, as usually the more affluent of guests stay here. But for us its a warm and cozy spot, to sit by the fire, and listen to the pianist play Christmas songs.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Psalm 107:1

There's an abundance of things I'm thankful for, but my darling hubby, is who I'm most thankful for.

Thank you. To any of you who take the time to read my blog, or watch my vlogs. I enjoy seeing how other people live - and we all have one thing in common, we like to remember these little moments, because maybe, just maybe the little moments are what matter the most.

Opening Christmas Gifts and Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden

Good evening my dears.

Today, my post is a means to preserve more Christmastime memories from when my mum and sister came to visit.

Friday, November 25th

On the day after Thanksgiving, we went to take our family pictures for our annual Christmas card. One of my favorite parts of Christmas is the giving, and receiving of Christmas cards.

For lunch, we went to Amelie's, a French café for cappuccinos and cupcakes. It is located across from where we buy our Christmas tree. This year we had a beautiful tree which we all decorated in our family room.

For dinner we all got dressed up and we went for a family dinner at The Gallery, a fine dining restaurant inside The Ballantyne Hotel. My sister was a sweetheart and treated all of us.

Saturday, November 26th

My family (my hubby, mum and sister) are all good gift givers, and receivers. I take after my mum, by keeping persons in mind during the year, especially when we travel, so come Christmastime we have a lot of meaningful and memorable gifts to exchange.

Also, on our tree were our strawberry fruit ornaments. They have been on our tree ever since before I was born. One of them has a chunk bitten out of it from when I was a toddler. We still proudly display it and share the story every year when we decorate the tree.

Nobody loves opening gifts more than Sophie. She enjoys opening her gifts and happily watching us open ours.

Then I prepared roasted chicken, potatoes, carrots, peas, stuffing balls (my favorite), rolls and gravy.

There's something about a homemade roast that makes you all warm and cozy inside. We all ended up having a nap, with Christmas movies on in the background. Then later that evening, we all got ready for a production of the Nutcracker at our local community center.

 Bless their hearts.

Sunday, November 27th

On Sunday afternoon we went to The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, in Belmont, North Carolina to attend an afternoon tea and see the holiday lights.

 My sister and me.

These were spider orchids.

My hubby is a full time goofball.

It was a magical end, of a magical evening.

Goodnight to all, and to all a goodnight.
