Baby's First Day At The Lake

Good afternoon my dears,

We are probably one of the few families who are still staying at home, under the recommendation of our pediatrician.

Over the past four months, we have only left our home for OB visits, the hospital to have Drew, and the pediatricians, so we needed a change of scenery. We recently spent a day at Lake Tillery in the Uwharrie National Forest.

The Uwharrie National Forest has scenic mountain backdrops and trails... for hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers.

The lake is host to boats and jetskiis, which create enough wake to make waves along the shorline.

This is our favorite spot, a secluded 'mini beach' along the shoreline. The perfect place to have a picnic, dip in the water, and watch the wildlife.

We took our baby, Drew, and one of our pups, Oscar, for our first family outing together. It was just the change of scenery that we needed.

Here's a video of our family day at the lake.

Lake Norman, North Carolina

Good afternoon my dears,

Last weekend, we drove about 30 minutes north to the tranquil waters of Lake Norman. The lake is the largest man-made body of fresh water in North Carolina. It's where rich and famous people like Michael Jordan, live and play.

Firstly, we went to the trendy, hipster, 20's and 30's something hangout, Hello Sailor. Cory had the baby back ribs and calabash shrimp and I had the avocado toast. The restaurant is decorated in a 1970's Mad-Men style with views overlooking the marina.

After an early dinner we went for a stroll along the dock. Marinas bring back a lot of nostalgic memories for me, as I spent many summers out on the lakes in Washington state in my dad's boat, I even have a Washington boat license somewhere.

We made fast friends with this duck.

Later that evening, we drove along Nantz Road and Serenity Point Lane, to go take a sneaky peek at some of the homes near Ramsey Creek Park. This timeless southern colonial looks as if its been here for hundreds of years, but was built in 2016 by Cornelius town commissioner, John Bradford III and his wife, Shea.

Thank you for stopping by.
