Good morning my dears,
We had a lovely weekend away, nestled up in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, to celebrate Cory's 36th birthday.
Saturday, October 7th
On Cory's birthday morning we headed down to breakfast at our hotel, The Greek Park Inn, for breakfast and to open gifts...
...and to take the traditional birthday pictures.
After breakfast we drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Moses H. Cone Memorial Park. The historic house, Flat Top Manor, is perched on to of the mountain overlooking 3600 acres of forests and lakes.
I was so glad I packed my sweaters, because the temperature was 69 degrees.
Afterwards, we went to the main street in Blowing Rock and browsed the stores before heading back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at Rowland's at the Westglow Resort and Spa.
The restaurant is inside this charming historic house.
Where we were greeted by a sunset over the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains.
Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the LORD is to be praised.
These were the varieties of salts they had. I rarely ever cook with, or add salt to my dinner, but I ended up trying a few on a few bites of warm bread. Yum!
Sunday, October 8th
The following day, we had breakfast at our hotel, then we headed to the small mountain town of Boone, NC which is also home of Appalachian State University. While there we browsed some antique stores and the Mast General Store along main street. Before we left, we grabbed some chai tea latte's for our drive back home, sweet home.
Here's a little video from the trip.
Thank you for visiting,
Kiki Nakita
